There's Still Hope for Music
With my modest disapointment in "Healthy in Paranoid Times," Raine's solo EP was the perfect defibrillator to jumpstart my heart and my appreciation for modern music. He seems to have taken a step "backwards" by industry standards in creating an almost raw indie sound (but in hi-fi, of course). He combines sounds I associate with Radiohead, classic Singer/Songwriter albums like Fiona Apple's "Tidal", and of course that distinct Raine Maida "something". Raine's emotional voice and thoughtful lyrics are front-stage, as they should be. And they are a perfect compliment to the eerie piano riffs of "Careful What You Wish For" and the somber fingerpicking heard throughout the EP. I'd give another 1/2 star on this one if I could.

Memories of early Our Lady Peace. Raine is a great songwriter who puts emotion back into music. Great buy!

I love the songs - it has a good deal of diversity with only four songs but still maintains a mood. Not to mention that Raine's voice is amazing! Get it!
