Better and better

I've been waiting for this album for a while now. I'm a sucker for a good blues-rock act and I've loved the Blue Van from their very first riff. From initial listens, I can definitely see that they're running smoothly off of their newer, polished sound and production that helped make Man Up such a killer album. I'm liking what I'm hearing and I think we're about to have a new classic on our hands.

Oh, Noooooo.....

Here we will have a classic split between new fans and the disenchanted earlier fans. Blue Van, with the album Man Up, showcased the fantastic energy and clean, hard-driving sound that breathing people find down right addictive. This album, so sad to say, presents an almost totally new (familiar old) sound that signals a different direction altogether. Gone is the edge and punchy, downright hammering drive of songs like Man Up, There Goes My Love and other breakthrough pieces on the last album. Here now, we find that new (all too familiar) commercial wall of sound where the guitars lose all sense of definition and the boys sound flat and wavery - as if the earlier band is playing to us from under a pool of water. Man, Blue Van, where have you gone? What happened? This is just sad. Youthful exuberant edgy music gone long before its time. There Goes My Love for Blue Van.

few albums are worth buying because only a few songs are good. the band was cool enough for their fans to
preview the entire album before release which is what i did for the last 4 days. i am proud to say, that is album is the first i've bought in 2 years. why? because it's that good. thank you blue van for bringing me back to the rock. if you ever need some love, i'm there for ya.

Growing up in rural Broenderslev, Denmark, Steffen Westmark (vocals/guitars), Søren V. Christensen (Hammond organ), Allan F. Villadsen, and Per M. Jorgenson (drums) were inspired by the classics — Cream, Kinks, Pretty Things, Them — and they used that hard R&B, primal rock influence to drive the revivalist sound of the Blue Van. The combo moved to Copenhagen in 2003 and scored gigs at rock festivals like Spot 9 and Roskilde. That exposure helped land them a deal, and a five-song EP...
