Customer Reviews
Good, but not one of Luke's best.
If this weren't a Vibert album, I would say it was great. But I try to get everything of Luke's that I can find, and this is fairly weak in comparison. This release and the last couple under his own name are less hip-hop focused like his Wagon Christ work, and more acid synth based and club-friendly. Even Luke's medicore stuff is great to listen to, as he's one of the best producers I have ever heard, by far. His mastery at crafting beats, melodies, and integrating samples is mind-blowing, and the sheer joy of the work comes through in everything he does. But, if you're new to Luke I would avoid this, and get anything by Wagon Christ, "Chicago, Detroit, Redruth", Plug's "Drum and Bass for Papa", or the Kerrier District albums. If you're already a fan, however, you must own this. Check out "Funky Acid Stuff", "P***k Tat", or "Orch Garage" for a nice taste.
good.
I downloaded this as my first album from Mr. Vibert and I was oddly impressed. I think I like Wagon Christ a bit better, but when an artist has about a dozen projects available, you start small and affordable and slowly explore the collection.
Smooth Acid
Luke gets a cool idea in his head and rolls with it. This is like a concept album, and the concept is Luke's style in the form of Acid. No matter what he does it is always interesting. He is diverse, and can make any style of music he wants. He conquered the fresh hip hop tracks with his W.C. stuff, blew minds with futuristic medium tempo disco beats with Kerrier District, and with this album, he gives us a smooth acid flow. It doesn't matter, the dude could mix Hawaiian with Hip Hop if he wanted to..... wait a minute?... Bottom line, whatever he touches should be a part of your collection.
