Album Review
After a release that was challenging and conceptual (2008’s Complices found Latin maestro Manuel Alejandro writing and producing the album in total) Luis Miguel’s 2010 effort is a self-titled return to basics, filled with Latin pop that’s built with radio play in mind. Easygoing opener and lead-off single “Labios de Miel” sets a lighter tone right from the start, then “Mujer de Fuego” brings the ‘80s-flavored funk before “Tres Palabras” becomes the album’s first ballad, and a very lush one at that. The cycle repeats 'til the album comes to a close, and while some might think Miguel’s coasting after gaining artistic credibility with Complices, fans who gravitate toward his ‘80s releases will find this one a welcome flashback.

Algo verdaderamente especial
Al escuchar la voz de Luis Miguel me da mucho orgullo de entender la riqueza del idioma español. Le doy muchas gracias a Luis Miguel por haberme influido a aprender a hablar, escribir, leer, y ayudarme a ser profesor de español como lengua extranjera. También, se encuentran las famosas letras de Armando Manzanero, que a aparte de ser un gran músico, en mi opinión, es un gran poeta. No se puede negar este hecho. Este álbum no es igual que los otros. Muchos dicen que sí, pero cada álbum tiene su propia individualidad. Ojalá que Luis Miguel siga lanzando nuevos discos para que, si sólo sea una persona, aprenda a apreciar la cultura de toda Latinoamérica y España con la misma pasión que yo.
Luis MIguel sige siendo el autentico
Hay discos que marcan una etapa en la vida de cada artista, este es uno de ellos. "Luis Miguel" pasa a ser una division entre su tributo a la musica de boleros, que han sido una estampa de la musica mexicana, y lo que es el como cantante, este disco es un momento que marca un Luis Miguel como aquel de Aries, Busca una mujer, Nada es igual o 33; es una gran alegria re-encontrar al interprete de canciones con un estilo definido y real como lo es el. Gracias por darnos el gusto de volver a oir al Luis Miguel original y sin igual.
Beyond Dissappointed
I have been a devout fan of the greatest voice to hit the air waves in the history of Latin American music. However, I must say that I am beyond dissapointed with this latest production. It lacks the passion, creativity and inspiration clearly evident in Aries, All Romances, Amarte es un Placer and even Complices. Luis Miguel is beyond a doubt the greatest of all time. However, I am compelled to think that he may be transitioning into an epoch in his life where he is running out of steam and resolves to mimic Frank Sinatra. I suppose he wants to be remebered as the Mexican Sinatra. I am not sure if that is wise. I sincerely expected Romances 5. That would have been the greatest gift to his fans being that he has been away from boleros for 9 years (Mis Romances released September of 2001).
