Album Review

This is the second volume of Lullabies to Violaine's split-release version (4AD initially released the two volumes in one elaborately packaged set), which covers the Cocteau Twins' Capitol-era singles and EPs — Evangeline, Snow, Bluebeard, Twinlights, Otherness, and the two-part singles for Tishbite and Violaine. Everything that appeared on the original releases can be found here. The convenience of having the two tracks from the limited Snow single will be of particular interest for fans who weren't quick enough the first time around; though the versions of "Winter Wonderland" and "Frosty the Snowman" showed up on compilations across the years, the original single release fetched some steep amounts of money.

Customer Reviews

Cocteau Twins review :)

This album is great! I first heard "Alice" in The Lovely Bones and immediately fell in love with this particular album. Cocteau Twins at their finest without a doubt :)

Whole Gifts

You can not go wrong with the Cocteaus at any age. Thank you, itunes for finally adding their version of "Winter Wonderland". That's the one song I've been missing to complete the Twins' collection. Lullabyes To Violaine Vol 2 is a must-have!

Best addition to my cocteau twins collection

Having all the EPs and special songs from my favourite band all in one place is like a kid in the candy store. The acoustic versions of rilkean heart and half-gifts are my two favourites and I'm loving even the songs from the Otherness EP (feet like fins, seekers who are lovers). Must have to round up your CT collection, I can't get enough of it!

A group whose distinctly ethereal and gossamer sound virtually defined the enigmatic image of the record label 4AD, Cocteau Twins were founded in Grangemouth, Scotland, in 1979. Taking their name from an obscure song from fellow Scots Simple Minds, the Cocteaus were originally formed by guitarist Robin Guthrie and bassist Will Heggie and later rounded out by Guthrie's girlfriend Elizabeth Fraser, an utterly unique performer...
