Summer of Syn(th)
Little Boots, La Roux- then Marsheaux releases this masterpiece and in August the second Sally Shapiro album- yowza- music is making up for the terrible weather on the East Coast. Lumineux Noir brings Marsheaux to a new level. They're totally comfortable and bend their machines around a plastic dark soul. Love songs for the corrupted hard drive inside all of us.
Illuminated
Marsheaux have crefted their best work to date with this vibrant release. Superb production and programming make this among the top offerings this year. "Breakthrough" bursts with energy and is infectious to the extreme.
The rest will keep you wanting more.
The Perfect Stand By
Whenever I need a synth bliss fix, and my recent acquisitions start to seem stale, I always go back to Marsheaux, and each time it's more brilliant than the last. Very rich arrangements and production. I agree with others that Lumineux Noir is darker than their first two releases, but it's also lyrically stronger and deeper. Stand By is my favorite track, but Summer, So Far, Radial Emotion, Faith, Ghost and Breakthrough are also great, and the synths in Exit are gorgeous. Every time I listen I hear something I hadn't heard before. It's beautiful, complex, powerful synth music.
