iTunes Review
Developing in tandem with his Chi-Town mentor Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco’s sophomore effort is a far grander than his debut. “The Coolest,” “Little Weapon,” “Hello Goodbye,” and “The Die” are chock full of sound and syllable, buoyed by the same enormous, inflatable synths as Kanye’s Graduation. However, some of the best moments on The Cool hearken back to the nimble mischief of A Tribe Called Quest; “Paris, Tokyo” is Lupe’s holler-back to Tribe’s classic “Award Tour,” while “Gold Watch,” with its tricky beat and trickier rhymes, might be the album’s best song. As his music grows beyond the simple nostalgia of his 2006 hit “Kick, Push,” Lupe weaves what are easily mainstream rap’s most ambitious verses. “Dumb It Down” is a portfolio of exploratory rhyme styles: “I'm not a listener or a seer so my windshield smear / Here you steer, I really shouldn't be behind this / Clearly cause my blindness / The windshield is min-strel / The whole grill is roadkill / So trill and so sincere / Yeah, I'm both them there.” While songs like “Put You On Game” become too grandiloquent for their own good, there are dozens of verses on The Cool that are as complex and challenging as anything a Grammy-nominated rapper has ventured.

Hands Down Best Hip-Hop Album Of The Year!!!
THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST HIP-HOP ALBUM OF 2007. I thought it was gonna be Common...then Kanye dropped. Then Jay-Z came out of no where with American Gangster (Freeway even dropped a banger 10x better than that wack Beanie Sigel CD)...THIS album is better than ALL of those albums. Not that those albums arent great because they are... but this is LEGENDARY!!! The metaphors are incredible and anyone who is a true hip-hop fan will agree. His lyrical ability is untouched and he would flat out destroy Lil Wayne in the wordplay arena. This is lightyears ahead of anything i have heard and the tracks are timeless... He was going for It Was Written, well Lupe this album has been written into my history books...TIMELESS!!! PS: This is just my opinion so please just listen and dont think that i know everything about hip-hop because i dont and most likely never will...
Welcome Back: Hip Hop
2 albums made a mark this year, Graduation and Lupe Fiasco's The Cool. I think it's already album of the year and it dropped with only a month before the year ended. This album is just full of real hip hop songs. Beautiful beats and meaningful lyrics provided by one of the game's best, Lupe Fiasco. If you like Kanye, Mos Def, Talib and Common, Lupe is just one more rapper who's keeping the game alive. This album gives my hopes back into the hip hop game, so I welcome you back to the real hip hop.

In an interview with billboard.com, lupe said that he predicts that his career is going to end after his third album in large part because it takes too much work to promote his albums, only to get virtually no play on urban radios because his songs are so different. He knew he had a core fan base of about 200,000, but we all know that selling 200,000 albums is nothing in the music industry. Lupe and his record company know that this album's sales is going to be a forecast of whether more listeners are catching on to his music, or if people are becomming less interested. The latter seems very possible based on the declining sales of hip hop. SO PLEASE BUY THIS ALBUM AND SUPPORT REAL HIP HOP AND STOP BOOTLEGGING IF YOU DONT WANT LUPE TO RETIRE
