Customer Reviews

True Iggy at his best.

I loved this record back in the day, I was playing in a punk band in San Antonio Texas called The Vamps when I first really got into Iggy and was also into Bowie. It was one of those soundtracks to my life at the time and it was a good time. It's great to here it again, Lust for Life is the most known track for various reasons but the songs are all great. It's experimental, it's fun, it's Iggy with Bowie producing and I can't think of a better fit.
Just saw Igg with the Stooges, a great, unbelievably rockin show. Long live the Igg man!!

From the Stooges to Iggy

One of the earliest punk albums I picked up. This caught Iggy transitioning from the Stooges to his later solo "Iggy Pop" career. Highlights include the title track and "The Passenger", yet many of the other songs also excellent - Success, Some Weird Sin. Bowie's influence here seems to take Iggy's hard edged songs and polish them into a well produced tune. Too bad they didn't continue to collaborate more.

Purrrfecto!

I LOVE this album. I don't even mind that Lust For Life is all over the place, I feel generous, we should all hear it loud and often. This was this song you listened to before going out on a Saturday night, the song you played at top volume when riding in the car, the song you played to get your adrenaline up to Incredible Hulk. And please, does anyone have better back up singers than Iggy?

There's a reason why many consider Iggy Pop the godfather of punk — every single punk band of the past and present has either knowingly or unknowingly borrowed a thing or two from Pop and his late-'60s/early-'70s band, the Stooges. Born on April 21, 1947, in Muskegon, MI, James Newell Osterberg was raised by his parents in a trailer park close to Ann Arbor, in nearby Ypsilanti. Intrigued by rock & roll (as well as such non-musical, monotonous, and mechanical sounds as his father's electric...
