Album Review

Made in Japan was recorded live on July 9, 1998, in Tokyo's Koseinenkin Hall and, thanks to the remarkable engineering skills of Yoshiyasu Kumada, is an impresssive re-creation of the impeccable studio recordings of some of Deep Forest's best music, melded with the genuine pulse of a live performance. This is the first non-studio recording from the French duo, who are masters at balancing technological programming and ethnic fusion to produce jubilant musical compositions. Traditional worldbeat rhythms, accordion, keyboard, computer wizardry, and multilingual singing come together effortlessly and are presented immaculately in this spirited and festive release.

NO BRAINER

I bought this CD right before I went on a Hawaiian holiday a few years back, and it was incredible. The songs are so chill and perfect for a holiday, or just relaxing at home. I totally recommend it!

Buy it!!!

This album is incredible!!! I don't care who you are...you're gonna dig this. Sample Ekue Ekue and tell me you don't want to hear the rest. I dare you. There's a very cool and unexpected time change in this song. It's awesome. Enjoy!!!

HUH

This is not the deep forest I remember!? It was not live and sounded alot better than this. The original album, the studio one, now that is truly a classic!

The project was primarily the work of the French keyboardists and programmers Eric Mouquet and Michael Sanchez; after the latter returned from Africa with boxes of records he'd picked up across the continent,...
