Customer Reviews
Great remixes to already great tracks
Shaun whatever who cares what his name is should not be allowed to review albums any more. It is perfectly fine to appreciate both the original Madvillain and these excellent remixes. Fourtet does some pretty groundbreaking stuff here, especially on the Great Day remix where they use an acoustic guitar sample looped forwards and backwards on top of each other that sounds amazing. Do not pay attention to the idiot who gave this album a star he is obviously some kind of underground hip hop elitest dick.
Mellow and Complex
Tigers stalking through fairy tales, Saturday morning cartoons and Buddhist rock gardens. On "Accordion," DOOM doesn’t run back to the safety of a hook, instead driving onward, his cohesive stream of consciousness grit playing contrast to music box melodies steeped in wanderlust and nailed to the floor with a big booty beat. "Great Day" showcases Four Tet at their best wielding spastic strings in the vein of The Books, but with much tighter sensibilities that bear DOOM up like San Teodoro blunt smoke swirling over a glass of cassis. The sort of mellifluent dissonance I've come to love from Stone's Throw.
Four Tet + The Villain = Excellente!
Four Tet does a great job of adding a new flavour to each track remixed. Great Day and Rhinestone Cowboy are better than the originals. If you liked Madvillain at all you would probably enjoy this EP. One of my favourite things I've bought on iTunes.
