iTunes Review
This album offers an awesome spectacle of mush-mouthed logic. Co-conspirator Madlib trips over the cables and pipes in a weeded-out sound collage that pulls samples from scratchy jazz, found sound, and soundtrack sources. The whoosh associated with a flight of attack jets give songs like "All Caps" regality. "Money Folder" is a grab bag of clipped drums, obscure jazz, and Madvillian's ample, off-the-meter rhyme ballistics. "America's Most Blunted" als helped marked Madlib and MF Doom as the Cheech & Chong of 2004.

The Best MC with no Chain You Ever Heard......
Arguably Doom's greatest album, "Madvilliany" unites producer Mad-Lib and MF Doom as two of "America's Most Blunted" music makers today. Mad-Lib's jazz influenced beats blend perfectly over Doom's low raspy voice. You can literally hear Doom's thoughts being poured out through the mic on "Meatgrinder" only leaving in the necessary words to convey them, while"Curls" features an amazing outro from Mad-Lib using Street Fighter II samples. One of the most smooth flowing and chilled albums ever recorded, "Madvilliany" is a classic among today's cookie cutter rap.
Simply Astonishing
I do not like rap from the last few years. In fact, I don't like very much rap at all. I thought rap had been killed by 50 cent and the rest of the clowns on the radio. However, I love this album, I love this rapper. The beats are catchy like the flu in a crowded elevator, and the lyrics are flowing and very well-written. Also, you get 21 tracks for ten bucks, it doesn't get any better than that. I'm giving this collection of audible gold a five. Buy now.
A modern classic
The golden age of hip-hop is long gone, but there are still some intelligent figures bringing it down even today. Take the best crate digger, and most intelligent abstract hip-hop producer of all time (Madlib), and combine it with one of the hottest MCs in the underground circle of the moment (MF DOOM). The results could have been risky, but any DOOM fan knows that he can adapt his flow to any beat (one huge reason people love DOOM). Madvillainy is no exception. The beats are all hot, and aren't played out for too long. I like this style where no beat is played for too long and never feels outdated. DOOM's witty lyrics are nothing short of intelligent, hilarious, and also meaningful. American's Most Blunted shows how dedicated Madlib is to making a great track, possibly taking days to dig out all of those samples, but making a perfect song out of it. The piano keys in Raid are just addicting, plus all of the guest appearances are great. Medaphoar lays a good verse as well as Wildchild's quick spit ("Power to the people who support raw music"). DOOM's clashing of alter-egos in "Fancy Clown" leave only fans of Metalface and Viktor Vaughn understanding the situation, where VV's girl has been cheating on him with Metalface (two DOOM aliases with both great albums). It almost sounds convincing to people unaware, which makes it such a brilliant track. The only thing I wish they did was let DOOM spit a verse on "Sickfit," an amazing instrumental. I KNOW Madvillainy 2 will live up to this. 9.7/10
