A Mixed Treat

It amazes that a witless wonder such as "Allen Ginsberg" (the reviewer & not the polar opposite of intellect that is THE POET) thinks that this is some sort of 10-yr olds blog to make giggly sounds about things he/she/it can't yet process, for having grown up in some sterile suburb where no one would dare make fun of golf pants. How dare you bring blasphemy to a poet who was all about experiencing anything and everything that was "out of the box!!!" Anyway, this mix allows AFOS the traditional quartet of options to present their music. I always liked synth instrumentals, because this is basically what led to the electronica genre we have today, but the dance vocal is engaging too.

NOT from 1980 or 1981

"Magic" is is a nice enough tune, but there is a bit of misinformation here - there are three different dates listed for this EP on iTunes. "Released 1980", "Released 1981" and "Released 1992". I mention this only because some people might be led to believe that this is some ultra-rare EP from around 1980. I first heard this song on the "Light At The End Of The World" album. If you listen closely, you can tell by the overall sound quality and the sound of the drums specifically, that this is more from the late 80s or early 90s. I'm guessing Mike Score first released the song as a single in '92 and then included it on the '96 LATEOTW album.

81?

I happen to know, FOR FACT, that Magic was released in 1989, so whoever did the album research, send him to another department!

As well-known for their bizarrely teased haircuts as their hit single "I Ran (So Far Away)," A Flock of Seagulls were one of the infamous one-hit wonders of the new wave era. Growing out of the synth-heavy and ruthlessly stylish new romantic movement, A Flock of Seagulls were a little too robotic and arrived a little too late to be true new romantics, but their sleek dance-pop was forever indebted to the short-lived movement. The group benefitted considerably from MTV's heavy rotation of the...
