Orchestra
The NY Philharmonic plays well and Maazel's conducting is seasoned and exciting. But whose idea was it to let Heidi Grant Murphy "sing" the final movement? Ms. Grant Murphy sounds like she's a 95 year old woman on helium. Doesn't Mr. Maazel hear the vocalizing she's inflicting on unsuspecting masses? Ms. Grant Murphy is not a child singing from heaven; this is a naughty child howling from that other place.
