Album Review

This is a compilation comprising some of the most well-known and popular songs by Legião Urbana. The rock group, led by Renato Russo, released their first album in 1985 and quickly established a broad and very enthusiastic fan base thrilled by the band's post-punk inspired rock music and Russo's poetic and sometimes almost messianic lyrics. Mais Do Mesmo is a basic but excellent 16-track introduction (or summary, if you will) to the work of Legião Urbana. Songs like "Será," "Ainda É Cedo," "Índios," "Vento No Litoral," "Eduardo e Mônica" and "Há Tempos" are simply great rock by any standards. Although Legião Urbana very much had their own sound and style, on a couple of tracks it is also interesting to note the similarities with some of the most celebrated Anglo-American bands of the same era, such as R.E.M. and U2. ~ Philip Jandovský, Rovi
