Though Man On the Moon, Vol. II is Kid Cudi’s sophomore effort, the album’s rightful predecessor is Kanye West’s 808s and Heartbreak. Though not as frosty or insular as Kanye’s downer- pop masterpiece, Man On the Moon, Vol. II explores the same territory — alienation, self-doubt, loneliness, disillusionment. Like his mentor Kanye, Cudi is less interested in fame than its aftershocks (for example. “Don’t Play This Song”). Man On the Moon, Vol. II succeeds not just on the basis of its vivid interior descriptions. It’s easy for an artist to act morose — Cudi’s talent is that he makes it listenable. Thanks to his longtime producers Emile and Plain Pat (along with crucial contributions from Jim Jonsin, Chuck Inglish, and No I.d.) Man On the Moon, Vol. II is a fully inhabitable sonic landscape. Even when the songs turn bleak — and the final seven songs are downright chilling — the music remains inviting, brimming with intricate detail and unique tones. This is an album painted in blacks and whites and blues, but Cudi shows us the limitless shades that exist within those colors.

There's nothing quite like Kid Cudi's style, you can't compare him to any other artist
he's simply on a league of his own. Great overall album, might jus be better then the first.
definitely not as good as the first one
I am a huge kid cudi fan; however, i'm a bit disappointed with the songs. I've been waiting for this pre-order for a while, and i am grasping for more than what has been given.
Rating the songs:
Scott Mescudi vs. The World: 3 out of 5. Decent song, like the chorus, but cudi doesn't do anything special in this song
Revofev: 4.5 out of 5. Definitely my favorite, I heard this before it released, so that's probably why i favor it. A little short though.
Don't Play This Song: 3.5 out of 5. Decent lyrics.
We Aite (Wake Your Mind Up): 1 out of 5. Um...this song isn't worth anything. It's just kid cudi saying 'we aite' and 'wake your mind up.' I don't see why this even needs to be on the album.
Marijuana: 4 out 5. Pretty catchy, i like it.
Mojo So Dope: not exactly but close to 4 out of 5 stars. it's a decent song. It'll probably grow on me.
Ashin' Kusher: 3 out of 5. Eh, it's ok
Erase Me: 4.5 out of 5. I've loved this song, minus the fact that it's very short, ever since it came out. i'm a little mad though, cause i've bought the clean versions of songs, and this is the first released version of the clean version.
Wild'n Cuz I'm Young: 3.8 out of 5 stars. Decent, but the beat sounds exactly like Teach Me How to Dougie.
The Mood: 4 out of 5. I like the samples in this song.
Maniac: 2.5 out of 5. This song is kinda random, and i do not like the people cudi features in this song.
Mr. Rager: 3.8 out of 5 stars. See, I believe this is motm2 version of day 'n' nite, although i'm afraid that it won't be able to sustain all the radio-playing that day 'n' nite had, if the radios pick this up.
These Worries: 2.8 out of 5 stars. Ok.
The End: 3 out of 5. Decent. I like Cudi's part, and Cudi sorta made me a small closet fan of Chip Tha Rapper.
All Along: 4 out of 5. Really like this song. For me, it's a rap-meets-pop-and-rock song, and for me, I like pop as well. So it all works out.
Ghost!: 3.5 out of 5. A little weird sounding, but decent i guess.
Maybe (which was pre-order only): 2.5 out of 5. I liked the preview, but don't like the song. Disappointment.
In conclusion, it's a decent album, and it most likely grow on me, but it's not as good as man on the moon i, where every song appealed to me as a minimum of 3 out of 5 stars.
Not as good as the first one =/ but ya still gotta love him
Kid Cudi has such a dedicated fan base that they look past how inferior this album is to the previous. Yeah i love Cudi myself, but this album is basically composed of ill beats with Cudi trying to rap according to the image he has created for himself. Mr. Rager is a hot track, as is REVOFEV and Maniac and a few others, but other than that, it was hard for me to play this album straight through. I love Kid Cudi, but this isn't his finest work. I'm fearing that he will be completely overrated by the end of this year though, and I do not want that to happen.
