Too Underrated

--even by some Bowie fans. But then, I have early Bowie up on a psychic pedestal, rate him above Dylan for poetry and above all others for showmanship. Width of a Circle, All the Madmen, Man Who Sold the World are pure genius.

the man who sold the world

i'm only 12 years-old, and even i know this is good music! daivd bowie ♥ is most definitly my favorite singers. i'm possitively obsessed with him. he's so underated...

I must have died alone, a long long time ago.

The Man Who Sold the World is one of Bowie's hardest rocking albums, and one of the most underrated in his discography, even by Bowie fans. It isn't quite fully formed Bowie, but it was a step forward after his debut in Space Oddity (actually not his debut, and a good album in it's own regard.)

What really catches me on thus album is the subject matter. The songs are various short ventures into the lives and feelings of several unnamed personas, which is strange even by Bowie standards who is more famous for creating a single, complex persona for himself. Feeling of insanity, schitsofrenia, violence and remorse are explored throughout, making it one of Bowie's most interesting albums to examine.

Though this might not be the best first album to begin with in Bowie's discography, it's a great one that gets overlooked a little too much in my opinion.

Bowie looks good in a dress btw.

The cliché about David Bowie says he's a musical chameleon, adapting himself according to fashion and trends. While such a criticism is too glib, there's no denying that Bowie demonstrated remarkable skill for perceiving musical trends at his peak in the '70s. After spending several years in the late '60s as a mod and as an all-around music-hall entertainer, Bowie reinvented himself as a hippie singer/songwriter. Prior to his breakthrough in 1972, he recorded a proto-metal record and a pop/rock album,...
