March Of The Pigs (Halo 7) Is One Of NIИ's Best Singles

This single came out as a teaser to Nine Inch Nails' album "The Downward Spiral". This single did a great job of capturing the agressive sound of TDS and also gave a preview of the song "Reptile" through its two remixes (Reptilian and Underneath The Skin). The first song "March Of The Pigs" was one of the cleverest songs on the well thought-out album of TDS because of its unique structure. It goes from a hard, fast sound to nothing but Reznor's awesome vocals and a piano. Then it undergoes the same process again. Next came "Reptilian". It lacked the "Reptile" intro, had more layering, and instrumental choruses after regular choruses. It is worth listening to the whole song. "All The Pigs, All Lined Up" is a remix of March Of The Pigs. The song is entirely in 4/4 with and extended ending. Actually, when played live, "March Of The Pigs" is extended with an outro based on this remix of it. After that comes "A Violet Fluid" a drum-and-bass centered instrumental. "Underneath The Skin" closes the single. It is almost instrumental and has modified instrumentals. Any NIИ fan should enjoy this Halo, its worth a listen. Thank you for reading this review. Hopefully it helped.

This one is probably the best single...

Back when I was 14 or so this was like a baseball bat to the face... this single (and other NIN recordings around that time) made everything else sound like childrens music. The heavy approach and serious attitude were executed perfectly, but it does sound a bit dated to me now. Still, it's worth the money, no question.

Before TDWS

This Single/ep was released way before The Downward Spiral, and whats kind of strange is that it has "Reptilian" and "Underneath my Skin" as remixes of "Reptile" from THDWS which is one of the best NIN songs. "A Violet Fluid" is another note worthy track which is some what a B-side to "A Warm Place"

Nine Inch Nails were the most popular industrial group ever and were largely responsible for bringing the music to a mass audience. It isn't really accurate to call NIN a group; the only official member is singer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Trent Reznor, who always remained solely responsible for NIN's musical direction (he was, however, supported in concert by a regular backing band). Unlike the vast majority of industrial artists, Reznor wrote melodic, traditionally structured songs where lyrics...
