Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras picks up where Bayou des Mystères left off with a collection of new originals and a handful of traditional songs featuring new arrangements. Originally released in French in Canada (and in English in the U.S. a few years later), this download features both versions of the album… A rare treat for Zack fans! Look for Travailler C’est Trop Dur (Working Is Too Hard), Zack’s laid-back, country-laced original recording of the famous Cajun song popularized by French entertainer Julien Clerc; and La Chanson des Mardi Gras, Zack’s take on this fascinating tale of prairie carnival rides involving horses and chickens, with its epic Allman Brothers-meet-Prog Rock Coda. Pacing the Floor/Après Marcher le Plancher is a sad, beautiful ode to loneliness, whiskey and cowboy boots. Steal A Smile makes you want to go fishing on the bayou, while Ma Lousianne reminds you that the Cajuns were here before les Américains, et on sera ici après qu’ils sont partis… A jewel of an album!
