Album Review

Buffett's biggest-selling regular release contains his biggest hit single, "Margaritaville." It's also a peak in terms of songwriting, both for the artist himself and in his covers of the work of Steve Goodman and Jesse Winchester, among others. Funny, wistful, and celebratory, the album is the definitive statement of Buffett's worldview.

Customer Reviews

I luv his SOngs

I have just come back from the Keys and I love it there! One of the restruants I went to was called CHEESE BURGER. The place I'm guessing was named after J.B.'s song. Or the other way around I don't know. But anyway I love the song Margaritaville because it's about the Key West! It's so tropical and fun(the songs).

Wow!

Really one of Buffetts best. The title track is a song for the ages of course, Tampico Trauma is quite simply a song that needs to be played on the radio as much as Margaritaville. This is the album you need to take with you out on the boat.

Buffett's Best

This album, I can honestly say, does not have a bad or even average song. "Changes In Latitudes, Changes In Attitudes" is definetly Jimmy's best album, which is high praise, considering his long and successful career. I would recommend new Buffett fans to try his greatest hits compilation, "Songs You Know By Heart", first, and then move onto this album. It's hard to choose, but the four standout tracks on this album are tracks 1, 3, 4, and 6.

Jimmy Buffett translated his easygoing Gulf Coast persona into more than just a successful recording career — he expanded into clothing, nightclubs, and literature — but the basis of the business empire that kept him on the Fortune magazine list of highest-earning entertainers was his music. Born in southern Mississippi and raised in Alabama, Buffett moved to Nashville to try to make it in country music in the late '60s. After signing to the Barnaby label, he released one album, 1970's...
