Mark Spinner combines a blend of electric and acoustic guitar playing along with some heartfelt vocals that represents a unique style of songwriting. The song is the focal point but along the way the listener will be taken on a musical journey within the songs by way of some very melodic guitar playing and lush keyboards. For those that enjoy the art of the electric guitar solo there are plenty of examples of some tasty guitar riffs on this CD. The vocal ranges of the songs are vast and have no limits as to where they bring the listener. Mark has just finished his first full length CD titled MARK SPINNER. It is a 10 song CD that encompasses a modern rock/alternative and singer songwriter genre blend. It has a commercial crossover appeal to many different listeners. The song “Nearly One Year Ago” is a story of a boy and a girls first of many adventures together. The song has an infectious rhythm along with some emotionally powerful vocals and melodic guitar playing. The song “Lets Go For a Ride” is a story of getting away for the day and paints a colorful adventure for the listener. The songs melodic rhythm and interesting sound sculptures make this song one that sticks with the listener. The song “A Long Time Ago” describes the realization of learning that what we at one time thought we knew about our lives is constantly changing and each day is only one puzzle piece that interlocks with many others. The song “Day Dreaming” begins with a sexy guitar riff and piano line that sounds like it would fit in a Quentin Tarantino film or a Frank Miller novel. The song “Northeast Skies” emphasizes a 2 part vocal harmony that is warm and melodic. The acoustic guitar solo is spacious and lyrical. The song “It’s Not So Bad” is a dark yet lovely song about hope and starting anew. The overall composition has a comfortably haunting presence that wants to heard over and over again. The acoustic guitar is solo is mesmerizing. “You Won’t Be Alone” has a groovy psychedelic feel that describes the companionship of songs in a person’s life. The soaring vocals and call and response guitar lines give the song a melodic ambience that is both relaxing and inspiring. On “I Can Show You a Thing or Two” the overall composition of the songs delivers a steady dose of melody with some very lyrical acoustic guitar playing. The lyrics describe the belief that each new day gives everyone a chance to make good on promises made and a reminder of promises unfulfilled. “Peace of Mind” is a song about the angst of leaving a negative situation and being willing to leave everything behind in order to do it. The beat and tempo of the song is driving. The vocals are powerful and the lyrics are introspective. “Happiness Comes Your Way” is a song that describes the cycles of emotion and how people receive back emotionally what they give to each other. The tone and tempo of the music is upbeat. The guitar solo is lyrical and thoughtful and adds some vibrancy to the track. The overall tone of the CD is eclectic. Each song has a common thread musically yet is delivered in a unique musical package. Great CD !!
