The Next Big Thing??

I've been a fan for a while, but this album has definitely taken things to the next level. Amazing songwriting, awesome arrangements, this album has something for everyone, though my personal faves are Stars in the City, Heart on Fire and Bad Love... you can just see a lot of these playing behind a montage on House or Grey's Anatomy...buy it, put it on shuffle and enjoy...

Love it

Been following this guy since I randomly caught him in a club NYC....great new album....shades of Jack Johnson...but the's got his own thing going on...favorite songs: Thoughts for You. And Stars In The City is cracking hot...

The New Wave

I've been following this guy for quite a few years, and have been a big fan. He didn't win the John Lennon Songwriter of the Year for nothing. But this album seems to me a bit of a departure from his earlier work and by that, I mean, the songwriting is still incredible, but Tannen seems to have found a vibe that feels like you're sinking into a warm bath. The title song, "Maybe The Sun," has got a groove that draws you in and doesn't let go. "Feels So Right" and "Stars in the City" both capture a funk that I've not heard in Greg's work previously. His voice is so emotive, so spot on, with a gravelly warmth that sounds like rock and roll should sound. "Heart on Fire" is heartfelt and goes for your jugular. You don't just hear these songs, you feel them. And that is what I mean by the New Wave. Instead of emo, navel gazing where your emotions are seemingly ignored, how about songwriting that shakes you to your core that could be the new punk? That's what Tannen has done here. He may have shaken up the music world by great songwriting. There is hope. In a perfect world, Greg Tannen should be a big star. "Maybe The Sun" might help bring Greg Tannen closer to a perfect world.
