Jimmy Dawkins is a truly gifted blues man. He has a raspy voice that adds to the throaty sound of his guitar, which is tuned to howl, growl, moan and scream. His backup rhythm section is distinct, clear, and steady, complimenting his wailing sounds. The piano in the background adds a steady rock to some of the songs, sometimes it's an organ. The songs that are very bluesy are very relaxing, and moody. Some of the tunes really rock you, like Jimmy's Bag. It makes you want to get up and dance. If there is one song in this album that is not in the blues genre, it's Tuff Girl. All the others are just solid, unpretentious blues. In my opinion this is the best album he has ever produced.
