Wow!!!!

Fantastic album!!!!!

Amazing

Outstanding album. Recomend the whole album but Final Exit is a master peace by any standard

Awesome Return!

This album is probably just as good as Demanufacture. Dino Cazeres is back in the band and his riffs are the best they've been in years , helped by his work in other bands; continuing to improve the style he help pioneer. Burton C. Bell's vocals are top notch, probably the best they've been in years. As it is normally with bass, you have to listen carefully to hear Bryon Stroud's work, but he continues to give a good performace and lays down some interesting lines. Finally there is Gene Hoglan. The legendary drummer has joined Fear Factory and his skills have cranked up the speed of the music even faster, eclipsing old drummer Ray Herrera. Overall, Mechanzie has a great sound to it; it is much heavier than some of Fear Factory's older work. Think Demanufacture + Obsolete + a bit of Digimortal and Soul of a New Machine. You also hear a bit of influence from Divine Heresy, Dino's other band, on the record.

Song by song breakdown:

Mechanize: 10/10 This is a skull crushing heavy first song that sends a great "Fear Factory is back!" vibe. Easily one of the best on the album.

Industrial Discipline: 9/10 Typical screaming verse / singing chorus cranked up ten notches. Has a lot of great lines and soaring melodic hooks.

Fear Campaign: 10/10 This is a very powerful song, one of the most thought provoking written by FF. Has a solo, which is odd for the style of music that the band performs, but it's a great solo that doesn't kill the mood of the song.

Powershifter: 9/10 This was the first solo released from the record. Again it follows the FF style as well as the "rebel attitude". This really shows off Gene's ability to drum; the speed is so fast it almost sounds continuous.

Christploitation: 10/10 Another powerful song. "Unoffical" member Rhys Fulber shows off his skills on the keyboard here, creating an atmospheric beginning. This has some riffs that are definetely Divine Heresy influenced. Vocals start similar to Fear Campaign, but branch off into something unique. A word of warning: If you are religious, you may be offended by the content of this song.

Oxidizer: 9/10 Another really heavy song in terms of both guitar and vocals, especially the last verse.

Controlled Demolition: 8/10 This doesn't have as much punch as some of the earlier stuff, but it gives a great (and creepy) mental picture. More magic is done by Rhys in the sample department.

Designing the Enemy: 8/10 The slow song on the record. More melodic than the rest of the record, though it flips several times back into "heavy mode".

Metallic Division: 8/10 This is an instrumental track. This doesn't really show off the band's skills, but it is still a good addition.

Final Exit: 9/10 Another melodic song, but is probably the most powerful on the recording, talking about assisted suicde. It's a great closing track, but the actual song is only five minutes, leaving the three minute sample filled remainder that will likely bore some.

Overall: This is a fantastic return for Fear Factory. There isn't a single "bad" song on the whole record, which is greatly written, composed, and produced. This is a must buy for anyone who enjoys this kind of metal. Enjoy

Biography

Formed: 1990

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Fear Factory was one of the first bands to fuse the loud, crushing intensity of death metal with the cold harshness of industrial electronics and samples, producing a more varied sonic palette with which to express their bleak, pessimistic view of modern, technology-driven society. The group was formed in Los Angeles in 1990 by vocalist Burton C. Bell (formerly of Hate Face), percussionist Raymond Herrera, and guitarist and ex-Douche Lord Dino Cazares. Following their contribution of two tracks to...
