C. Gibbs Medicine Bag
It’s true, MEDICINE BAG is not an overly polished album, maybe even C. GIBBS’s most stirring, his loudest and his angriest - but catchy, funny and melodic at the same time. Motel room stadium rock for people who don’t like arenas. A truly great album for those new to his music as well as fans.
Rock Carpaccio
There aren't many C.Gibbs songs that don't either inspire vocal harmonies or make me wish I had started playing guitar instead of running for student council. Rare is the singer who can alternately coo in a perfect falsetto and roar with pipes that would make you sure he had never inhaled. At once delicate and raw, the only problem with this record heard on headphones is that I wish everyone around me could hear it -- its lyrics encapsulating the funny painful messiness of things. Performed live, it captivates even the a.d.d.-afflicted listeners that populate the Williamsburg music venues. "Medicine Bag" performed by this band, in particular, is instructive for any aspiring performer -- rock or otherwise. You won't be disappointed.
