Album Review
There's no denying the fact that Johannes Linstead is a superb guitarist with excellent dexterity. And on the basis of "Motika," he's also an accomplished pianist with a feel for Cuban rhythm. Add to that the taste to surround himself with players of a similar caliber, especially violinist Vasyl Popadiouk, who shines on the opener "Andalucia," and the technical quality of Linstead's fifth CD is assured. There's certainly a warm, lush feel to the disc, with guitar front and center, exactly as it should be.

Earlier work much better
I've been following Johnannes since he started. Just like his good friend, Eric Hansen (in my opinion a much better guitarist than Johannes), their earlier works are the best choice. If you're looking for the KING in "Nuevo Flamenco", I suggest you purchase any of Jesse Cook's work. Hands down the best.
Mediterranea
I stumbled upon Johannes Linstead a while back , and being a huge Earl Klugh fan was blown away, Andalucia is just a Happy Song. I used to go see his friend Eric Hansen in Delray Beach, Florida and hes amazing as well. I just would like to see where hes playing as I think Linstead and Hansen are as good as any of the more well known artists. Maybe not as much pop culture, but every bit as talented in my opinion
