Album Review
Hang on Sloopy: The Best of the McCoys is a 22-track compilation of the group's best mid-'60s material, including all the hits and tracks from their two Bang LPs, non-album singles, and a couple of previously unissued cuts. Much of this is rather forgettable if inoffensive, other than "Hang on Sloopy," "Fever," "Sorrow," and "Don't Worry Mother."

RE-"correction": lumpy was right. Original bassist was Dennis Kelly.
It seemed odd that anyone would go out of their way to "correct" someone else's post, most especially an enthusiastic youth expressing pride in a teacher he believes to have been a once-famous bass player (and as it turns out: correctly), before at least doing a bit of fact checking themselves first. Unfortunately for the FormerRockerFromAZ, who may now need the ‘Jaws of Life’ to help extricate his foot from his mouth (ouch). (Be strong!)
So, for the record: Hobbs was not the "the" bass player, he was “a” bass player, one who stepped in for Kelly when he left for to go to college (presumably because he had bigger fish to fry, like going on to teach young lumpy, or living beyond the age of 45). Btw, this is nothing that should have presented much of problem for FormerRockerFromAZ to have found out for himself before pouncing on the kid (it's within the first paragraph of The McCoys wikipedia entry).
As for this collection, I'd say, "If you buy only one McCoys record, this is THE one to get!" (literally)

The McCoys are known for one song and that is the great HANG ON SLOOPY! GO BUCKS!!!!!!
An incredible steal at only 9.99$
I'm only 14 years old, but The McCoys blend instruments, voices, and rythm in such a hormonic way that is hard to resist. The only thing hindering this album is the lack of the song "Fever".
Hang on Sloopy will always be an american classic, and Gaitor Tails and Monkey Ribs... well I'm not going to comment on that one. :D
5 stars will never be enough for this great band, nor is there a word for a number that high.
If only other people my age would stop to appreciate this type of music.
