Excellent early progressive rock
1970 in Philadelphia. Five Penn students form Wax. Their music was promising and they went on to record in the same New York City building as John Lennon and The Who were, at the same time in early 1971. Then their label had its assets seized by the Internal Revenue Service and their tapes disappeared forever. With this failure they went on to disband. Some members and others went on to form another progressive rock group, Baby Grand; after that broke up, some members went on to form The Hooters. But in May 1971, Wax went into a different New York City studio and in one day again recorded all their material for their album. Those recordings of single takes are this album. The tapes were remastered 2010 by Rob Hyman, in Philadelphia. The songs are crisp and the material calls to mind early Renaissance, Doobie Brothers and other American bands who emerged in the early '70's.
