GREAT! AWESOME

Aha never received the respect other 80 bands did. Why they are listed as a 1 hit wonder boggles my mind. This group has great talent, and should not be remembered only for the hit song Take on Me. I own all their albums and discover new sounds and excitement in every one. Definetely a keeper!!!!! Download this album and enjoy the different sounds Aha can bring about.

Great sounds

Love this album, Move to Memphis ROCKS! I just wish some of their later work like "Summer Moved On", "Forever Not Yours" and the whole "Lifelines" CD were available here in the states.

Arguably their best

A-ha's albums are so drastically different from one to the next that you cannot judge them as artists by listening to just one album. I found it interesting that the reviewer "Marlboro Guy" found this to be their worst and "Lifelines" their best as I see it the other way around. Maybe what it comes down to is generational preferences. I was just a kid when a-ha came out in the 80's but have continued to be a fan since album number one. By the time Memorial Beach came out in the 90s I was a teenager who was also enjoying alternative music. The darker, slightly harder sound in Memorial Beach will perhaps appeal to the early 30's and younger crowd. Personally, when I listen to Lifelines I feel like I'm listening to an easy listening album that could have belonged to my parents (Although there are some great songs there, too). The best advice I can give to anybody who is not too familiar with a-ha's music is to browse through their different album samples on itunes and find the album that appeals to you most. I'd be willing to bet that after that first album grows on you, you'll be buying all the rest.

Formed: 1982 in Oslo, Norway

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

Pal Waaktaar and Magne Furuholmen, formerly of Bridges formed a-ha in the early '80s. Morten Harket joined the duo, and they left for the now "legendary London flat" (so called because of its state of disrepair) to make it. By late 1983 they had achieved part of that goal by signing to WEA. "Take on Me" took three times to become a hit in the U.K., eventually hitting number two in November 1985. Going one better in the U.S. mainly due to the wide exposure of its stunning video on MTV, which fused...
