Album Review
The O'Jays' vocals are stellar throughout this lively eight-song collection. Political and social lyrics weigh heavy but don't overburden this set. "Darlin' Darlin' Baby" is a killer midtempo love romp with equally effective leads by Eddie Levert and Walter Williams. "Paradise" was overlooked, with Walter Williams doing his falsetto "doo dah"s on the breaks and the trio spitting out Gamble & Huff's lyrics at breakneck speed. "Make a Joyful Noise" finds Levert wailing like a Baptist preacher on a song that's more gospel than R&B; the title track is a typical message song made extraordinary by a great production and sensational vocals. The harmonies on "I Swear I Love No One But You" will blow you away. Another good slice of soul from the Canton, OH, natives.

ojays a super group
by jenkins, michaelThe O'jays are no doubt one of the super groups of all time. During the 70's and 80's they consistently put out a quality brand of music that delighted and inspired their many fans. This Message in our music release was just incredible in it's artistic presentation. The interplay between Levert and Williams has to be one of the most dynamic back and forths ever. They were at their level best in Desire Me I saw the group back in the late 70's at City Center in NY and never got over the performance. Of all the many songs on this album that I love, Paradise might be my favorite. It's up beat tempo and vocal interplay is just super. The group displayed their religious roots in a big way with one of my other favs prayer. All in all there is nothing not to like about this album and it remains one of my favorite OJ albums of all.
Bobby Bee
by Bobby BeeAbsolutely! From the very first track the O'jays do their thing!!! This may very well be their most spiritual albulm. I know the Male Chorus at our church has done two of the cuts to resounding reviews! A Message indeed!
