solid dope hip hop

so yeah, i'm kinda pissed cuz i started buying individual songs from this, but as i went through snippets again, i realized how dope this album really could be on a full listen. i'm glad i did buy the entire album. it is very reminiscent of early common and no i.d. collaborations. as a producer, i'm a serious sample head, especially when chops are done tastefully; as an emcee, i sincerely appreciate wordplay and other artists who put thought into their words; as a hip hop listener and fan, i admire kats who hone in on 360-degree excellence in their respective crafts and in the hip hop culture as a whole. though i feel that many kats will sleep on this album, the selfish part of me likes that many will not see this as the gem that it is. i do think, though, that modill and guests will make a nice stamp in their particular nook of the hip hop community.

Classy. Very classy.

This is some classy music. Original + powfull + classy beats + smooth lyrics + not played out - tons of cussing = Modil. I think this is a really tight CD. Buy it. Worth the 9 Washingtons and 99 Abes. One of my new favorite MCs, and definatly one of Chicago's finest right up there with Common and Kanye West.

Modill's music is amazing. The beats are great and the lyrics are as well. A definite must get for your collection.

Chicago locals Racecar and K-Kruz originally formed underground hip-hop group Modill as a MC-producer pair in 2003 before joined by ThaiOne Davis in 2004. Drawing from Native Tongue-rap, jazz, and Chicago soul and electronica, producer/drummer K-Kruz shapes the group's breezy and progressive sounds for Racecar's and Davis' introspective commentary. Racecar first met Evanston, IL, native K-Kruz after becoming a member of Chicago hip-hop band FreeBasic, whose drummer was K-Kruz, in 2000. Signed on...
