iTunes Review

Peter Wolf (lead singer of the J. Geils Band) knows the blues, sings R&B and tips his hat towards country, but at the heart of 2010’s Midnight Souvenirs, his first album in eight years, he sounds like he’s prepared to lead the band the Rolling Stones might have become if the arenas hadn’t embraced them. This is tough, barroom rock n’ roll with unforgiving guitars and tense keyboards that build the wall of sound until Wolf can only pout and snarl over the whip-smart riffs. “Tragedy,” with Shelby Lynne, sizzles with a Southern heat. “I Don’t Wanna Know” kicks up the harder rock within the band. “Watch Her Move” kicks off with a dirty blues lick before handing the funky backdrop over to Wolf who does his best to show who’s in control of the night. “The Green Fields of Summer,” with Neko Case, is a touching acoustic piece of sorrow. “The Night Comes Down” memorializes a fellow R&B cohort Willy DeVille. “It’s Too Late for Me” is the unexpected and touching duet with country legend Merle Haggard that finds the genres melting and two old music soldiers recounting the years past.

Better than ever....

Loved that Peter Wolf gave us a little "taste" when he released the single, "Tragedy".....listening to all of "Midnight Souvenirs", he shows why he's one of the best rock'n'rollers of all time. This collection shows Peter's range, has dramatic duets with artists like Shelby Lynne, Merle Haggard, and Neko Case, and will be appreciated by his old J.Geils fans as well as all of his newer fans....., and all in all, it's a really, really good time.

Loooong time comin

I thank GOD for Peter Wolf.
His music has always been a retreat for me.
Spend some time with a couple of his albums and tell me your mood doesn't improve.

Eight years ! Well worth the wait!

I've just finished listening to the entire album and I can honestly say that the album was worth the long eight year wait since sleepless. Peter's heart and soul come bursting thru the speakers on each track. When you finish your first pass thru the album you will find yourself wanting to do it again!I encourage everyone to buy a few extra copies and pass them out to your friends! Let's make sure we give Peter the same effort that he gave us in crafting this masterpice!
