Art as Pop
by

Mighty Kate, or to those of you who knew her as Katy Pfaffl, has delivered just what we have been missing for too long....Intelligent and artistic Pop Music. After all the "American Idols" are just a faint memory, this album will still be in your ipod. It is music deep with meaning and feeling but also deep with some of the catchiest hooks that will sink their teeth into you, leaving you humming "Fly on the Wall" all day long...
My favorite album right now

I just can't stop listening to this album ... it's just so refreshing to want to listen to an entire album over and over again, and not just skip to the singles. I find myself saying on each track "oh yeah, this is my favorite song!" which is a good thing! The music is very catchy, the words are beautiful and relatable, and most of all ... I just love the arrangements. Piano, strings, guitar, awesome back-up vocals ... it's just real, good, quality music. It's hard to compare Mighty Kate's style with other musicians - she's a less whiny Vanessa Carlton, more talented Sara Bareilles, modern-day female version of a Paul Simon or Billy Joel. So basically she is incredibly talented, and someone you won't get sick of. I highly recommend this album and swear you won't stop listening to it ... several songs are already on my top 25 played on my ipod ... and everyone I have recommended this album to absolutely loves it. Enjoy!

Mighty Kate has given me my favorite album of the year and what an amazing way to kickoff the start of this decade! This work of art pulses with emotion and her beautiful voice soars throughout. An incredible multi-faceted talent, Mighty Kate is a singer, songwriter, pianist, guitarist and violinist; she bounces around from instrument to instrument with ease. Having been lucky enough to see her live in concert several times, this album is sure to earn her leagues of new fans. Highlights here include "Fly on the Wall" (I dare you not to sing the chorus all day), "200 Stories" (which features her on lead violin), "Underneath" (a song EVERY girl must hear) and "Epitaph" (a moving tribute to a lost loved one). I urge you to buy this album!! It will not leave your iPod and will make you want to scoop up every future effort by this brilliant artist.
