iTunes Review
To the Stars, eh? Come to think of it, that sounds about right. After all, at least half of this synth-chased compilation sounds like it was written with a Jetsons-like joyride in mind. Or at the very least, David Hasselhoff’s tape deck, circa 1982. Which isn’t to say that Milky Disco’s latest installment is campier than the last two. It’s just got its collective head in the clouds a bit more, from trance-inducing tracks like “Iron Deck,” “Deep Heat” and “Metabolic” to such welcome left-turns as the blood-on-the-dancefloor balladry of “Made Up My Mind” and the tension-building tribalism of “I Feel Your Soul.” And then there’s the ace astral projections of "Oneohtrix Point Never," a perfect bookend to the proceedings and yet another reminder that this series knows its indie darlings as well as its dance ones (see also: Studio, Nite Jewel and Glass Candy from earlier comps). Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ve got some old episodes of Knight Rider to watch on mute.
Customer Reviews
You may be wondering, "where does this fit?"
I get disco, but not the vocal heavy disco of my youth, I get the disco of experimental. My favorite disco of the way back sorts was always cutting edge and more underground, not the radio version of disco and this work fills the void very well. Okay, is Disco refined? Yes, it is always refining itself, even here so do not let the title "disco you out" of listening. This is my favorite back ground sounds and this does not disappoint. The artists listed I am not familiar with but most times with this sound, it is irrelevent, the sound is what you want. Give it a go, glad I did.
