Album Review

Rather than focus on who they sound like — because there's little doubt they come from the Charlie Hall/Chris Tomlin/Jeremy Riddle school of modern worship — it's more relevant to describe what the Robbie Seay Band's third album, Miracle, does not sound like. Miracle is not a retread, a Xerox copy, a grand departure, a chastisement, or a watered-down collection for teens. Seay's pleas for God's grace are heartfelt and personal, crafted over a course of ten months and taken from the lives of churchgoers whom the band has come across. The subject matter has depth. It is a set of musical reactions to death, loss, and reversals of fortune that affected the bandmembers' lives. Seay wrote the title track after a family friend received a heinous cancer prognosis. Like the rest of the album, the ambient plea of "I need a miracle" was obviously meant to go beyond congregational worship and express meaningful empathy. It's that empathy and the modern rock touches by co-producers Tedd T. (tobyMac, MUTEMATH, David Crowder Band), Dan Muckala (Brandon Heath, the Afters), and Matt Bronleewe (Chris Tomlin, Leeland) that give Miracle its identity.

Hope's Around the Bend

This is an awesome album filled with songs that bring hope in a new creative style. His best song ("Miracle") not only has a very catchy rythm, but also has a powerful message. The conglomeration of music is composed of beautiful sounds and lyrics. His raspy voice is something that seperates him from the average artist. As always, the best part of this album is the hope and revival it can bring if you listen to it with an open heart and hear what God has to say to you. I suggest listening to it...then listening to it again, and again and again and again.

Compliments from an atheist

When I listen to the title track, it's easy to remember why I used to take comfort in the belief that Christianity's God was my ever-faithful friend and why so many others find themselves unable to pull away (if it has even ever occured to them) from what I now largely consider beautified, but ultimately unfounded superstition. Other than my metaphysical objections, I find the song quite pleasing and have no doubt it should be a great success among the target audience.

Pure Beauty

After going to Robbie Seay's church for awhile I must say that practically anything he sings is beautiful and go's a step further than most worship bands
