The Kind of Hip-Hop That Makes Me Like Hip-Hop Again.
Yeah, that sounds exactly like the kind of thing a hip-hop fan in his late-30s would say, but this really is just straight-up good hip-hop music, and provides a refreshing alternative to some of today's more radio-friendly offerings.
The lyrics are crisp, and the chemistry between Rugged n' Raw and Hassan Salaam is obvious, with Rugged more or less playing the "class clown" to Salaam's slightly more serious straight-man (very loosely speaking). But don't get it twisted - the topics on this album range far beyond the comedic, covering from lost loves, sex, death, war, politics, family, nostalgia, and more -- and both R'n'R and Salaam handle these topics very competently. The production on the album is stellar, and the few guest appearances, from the likes of Immortal Technique, Poison Pen and others, complement, rather than overwhelm the album. Same can be said for the few (brief) interludes, which I normally skip over on most albums. Standout tracks include Hero Sandwich (the leadoff single), and the brilliant posse cut Wrek Center, and finally, the sly nod to the album's namesake in the Outro.
Bottom line: it's a great album, get it.

Mohammad Dangerfield-bringing hip hop back
i found what i've been longing for!!! Real hip hop; and the production (two thumbs up) I haven't bought an album in a long time but just previewing each song forces you to want to hear more. None the less i downloaded the album. Phenomenal chemistry between the two artists and you can tell. i look forward to more with this duo. Thank you for bringing real feel good music back.
