A musician to follow
This is an excellent debut album from a very talented composer and musician. Rodriguez's substantial skills as a classical bassist are especially evident in his solo performance "Dragonetti Waltz No. 3", a brilliant tribute to the 19th-Century double bassist virtuoso. Both "Caribbean Fantasy" and its "Mambo Outtake" captivate as they flawlessly flow through Caribbean dance rhythms. My favorite is the hauntingly beautiful title selection "Moments in Life", which captures the indescribable beauty and profundity of life. The pristine performance of the album's string ensemble is guided but never overpowered by Rodriguez's superb bass playing. And this is only his first album— I can't wait to see where else Rodriguez will take us! Keep an eye on him.
