Ian's Halloween Songs - 2010

'Monsters Cry Too' appeals to audiences of all ages, both young and old. Adults can understand and relate to the fears of young ones and young ones can make some sense of the 'monsters under their beds or in their closets'. The vocals and instrumental talent of 'Monsters Cry Too' makes it so easy to sing along with while getting into the Halloween spirit. I love, love, love playing this song over and over and over! And, it was so great to see and hear Ian's band perform it live. 'Witch Hunt' is definitely the darker, spookier of the two songs on this album. If you get easity spooked, you might not want to be all alone while listening to this song and wouldn't want to be walking in or near a dark alley, especially if dressed as a witch (like I was for Halloween). The musical talent, both in the vocals and instrumentals, is amazingly evident throughout both of these Halloween songs. Can't wait to see what Ian has in store for us next Halloween!

The intriguing melodies and thoughtful lyrics are memorable. These both were a hit at our Halloween party, and will continue to hold a top place on my everyday playlist. Keep up the great work!

Ian McGlynn has a very special gift. While he is indeed an accomplished songwriter in the sense of the craft itself, he has managed to find his own unique voice through a variety of projects and collaborations both in and out of the commercial world. As a result his body of work is prolific and over time he has honed his sound into something truly his own. Ian's music contains much of the best that American songwriting has to offer. It is that rare combination of meaning, structure, clarity, and beauty that ultimately blossoms into nostalgia and becomes a piece of the tapestry that makes up our lives. Ian is a very special soul. Monster's Cry Too and Witch Hunt contain all of Ian's signature trademarks...melodic flourishes of color with an elegant integrity accomplished by the catchy counterpoint of his voice and keyboard working seamlessly together. His music is always gorgeous and very carefully constructed. Beyond this Halloween single, I would strongly encourage everyone to fully explore Ian's catalog. He is a very special artist with a very special message and simply put, you will not be sorry.

Pop/rock singer/songwriter/pianist Ian McGlynn is the son of rock & roll drummer Ed McGlynn; his mother is a classically trained pianist. He began playing piano at age three and wrote his first song at 12. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, he recorded his first album, Lemon, live at the Lemon Lounge on July 22, 2001, accompanied by his father and bassist Bill Knudson, and released it on his own IEM Music label on December 10, 2002.
