iTunes Review
Released in 1998 and featuring Cat Power (aka Chan Marshall) backed by members of the Dirty Three, Moon Pix is Marshall at her most atmospheric. The songs are arresting, folksy, and quite often depressing, but they also demand repeat listens. "Say" is quite possibly Cat Power's best track ever, a stormy ballad (thunder sounds included) that is simple and arresting. The whole album is full of stunners: "You May Know Him" showcases her pop sensibilities; "Back of Your Head" is mesmerizing and soulful; and "Cross Bones Style" is the closest thing to a rock song she'll ever produce. All told, Moon Pix is a dark, intense journey you won't want to end.
Customer Reviews
Incredibly Emotional Album
I can't live without this album. Although, all Chan Marshall's work is great, Moon Pix stands out the most. Her backing musicians are Dirty Three's Mick Turner and Jim White. Their style flows seemlessly with hers. Some of the best somber music recorded.
Moon Pix
Cat Power has a hypnotic and somber voice .She is the Billy Holiday of Indie music. I liked every song on this CD. I would recommend this CD to anyone.
