My Favorite Supremes Album...Always

Although it was their third album, it came on more like a followup to a breakout debut. Considering how overlooked "Meet The Supremes" was, it might as well be. Initial hitmaker "Where Did Our Love Go" gave us 3 #1's, all sweet and fairly mellow. This one, while still sweet, packs more punch on the uptempo numbers as evidenced by hits "Stop! In The Name Of Love," "Back In My Arms Again," and "Nothing But Heartaches." The awesome thing is, there are other numbers on here that are just as enjoyable, fast and slow. A very solid, very consistent album with little that could be called filler.

At their best!!!!!

I love this album. Solid from top to bottom. You just can't beat young Diana Ross with Holland-Dozier-Holland. The Supremes STILL do it for me!!!!

Best Supremes Sudio Album of all Time

Among many fans of the Supremes this album is considered their best studio album. The group harmonies were solid, the writing team of Holland, Dozier, Holland were at their zenith and the funk brothers with Benny Benjamin on drums and james Jamerson on bass were wailing. Of course lets not forget the incredible leads of the young Diana Ross, whose unique voice in those days makes her one of the great vocal stylists of the 1960's rock and roll era. Aside from the hits, Who Could Ever Doubt my Love still stands out as one of my favorites after all these years.

The most successful American performers of the 1960s, the Supremes for a time rivaled even the Beatles in terms of red-hot commercial appeal, reeling off five number one singles in a row at one point. Critical revisionism has tended to undervalue the Supremes' accomplishments, categorizing their work as more lightweight than the best soul stars (or even the best Motown stars), and viewing them as a tool for Berry Gordy's crossover aspirations. There's no question that there was about as much pop...
