Album Review

Dixon put together Most of the Girls Like to Dance but Only Some of the Boys Do out of demos cut from 1981-1984. It's a kind of best-of from a man with a pure pop sensibility and a wicked sense of humor when it comes to matters romantic. (The 1986 CD version adds two songs to make a total of 16.)

Best Album of the early 1980s

Don Dixon is the producer, writer, artist of the early 1980s pop, alternative, new wave sound that came out of the Southeast. His music has wonderful pop hooks and lyrics to match. This album includes some of the wittiest lyrics and songs from that era and Dixon's sense of humor really stands out here. The song Praying Mantis was a hit and a kind of party anthem in the 1980s and to this day people who don't know the song recognize the lyrics and tune. Simply put, this is a must-have album for anyone looking for great pop music.
