Album Review
The All-American Rejects' effervescent 2003 hit "Swing Swing" sounded like a pop-punk adaptation of Better Than Ezra, and their sophomore effort makes this mix even more apparent. The earnest racket of an outfit like the Get Up Kids is also a component in Move Along's sound. But the Rejects blend and sculpt those influences with keyboards, choirs, pianos — there's even a classical guitar on "Top of the World" — and the result is superficial midrange pop with appeal for a general audience of casual listeners. (Fans of Wakefield, Something Corporate, Switchfoot, and American Hi-Fi should take note.) The Rejects rock out a little on "Night Drive," "Dirty Little Secret," and "I'm Waiting" — the guitars crackle anxiously, and Tyson Ritter and Nick Wheeler's breathy harmonies soar like they mean it. There's also distortion somewhere in "Stab My Back," but it's buried under acoustic guitars, vocal overdubs, and mournful keyboards. Move Along has some memorable hooks, such as those on the title track or "Change Your Mind" — and, living up to its title, it moves along efficiently, usually keeping the pace at a snappy midtempo. The songs are also impeccably arranged, even if they're relentlessly processed and some of the instrumentation seems like overkill. (A children's choir? Come on....) In other words, it's easy to like the All-American Rejects if you're looking for 21st century mainstream rock that takes very, very few chances but does offer solid melodies and easy to swallow take/break and night/flight rhyme schemes.

What can I say, I like AAR. Not something most people would think I'd like, I'm into stuff more along the lines of My Chemical Romance and AFI but I have a mellower side. I have got to hand it to AAR, I've loved them ever since I first heard dirty little secret. I own both this and their other album. (an older one, which by the way, I highly recommend for anybody out there who really does love AAR) Dirty Little Secret - What can I say, its catchy and the lyrics are wonderful. Not much more you can ask for. As for the live version, I'm a bit dissapointed but its not a complete waste. It was good live, just not as good. Also, what could be better than a video that really connects with the song, videos like that are hard to come by. Stab My Back - This song was one of my favorites, I don't even know what to say about it. Move Along - This was the second hit but personally this song is weak compared to the other songs on the cd, it fell short of the emotion and catchy lyrics that made the cd so wonderful. The video was entertaining though, just fun to watch really. It Ends Tonight - The 3rd hit, I believe it was wonderful but like Move Along it didn't deserve to be a hit especially when compared to the other songs. But it was better than move along in my opinion, the video was also wonderful. Change Your Mind - This song was terrific, it took days to get out of my head. Whether thats a good or bad thing, it just depended on when I had that urge to sing it. I had a hard time figuring out what the point of this song was, but truthfully I didn't care because it sounded so great. Night Drive - This song was the most distinctive on the entire album, it was absolutely nothing like the other songs. It was actually pretty good but it wasn't one that you could just start singing somewhere for no reason. 11:11 PM - I couldn't and still can't figure out the title of the song, I don't get it. I'm probably just slow, but anyways its a great song, nothing special to comment here about it really. Dance Inside - My friend thinks its important to say that she found this song to be dirty. But she finds a lot of songs to be dirty, so ignore her. It was okay, not the best song on the album but I can't say I didn't like it. they are all good songs. Top of the world - Finally I can talk about this one... this song made me laugh. I had a vision of the earth falling on a little dude with a crown. And then it went "SPLAT" it was quite hilarious. My friend drew some nice pictures to accompany the song and we yelled splat a lot... good fun, good fun. Straitjacket Feeling - My sister had to look up straitjacket, she didn't know what it was. However, I knew of course... and I thought this was a good, soft song for the most part. I actually found myself singing it in Shop class, got pretty embarassed. I'm Waiting - Oh no... I forget how this one sounds. :o No i kid. I was just wanting to say that. Great song, not my favorite but pretty good. Can't Take it - This song is another of my favorites. An awesome job for AAR... its just perfect. Yea, I liked 'em all. Got a problem with it?
AAR is my favorite band
I like mostly all of there songs and i saw them live & it didnt sound like anything like the live version, the live version sounds terrible compared to the other one
Driving me insane!
Ok people, can't take it anymore....most of you seem to be obsessed with the song "It Ends Tonight", and sure its a good song, but there is a better song, and i, like my friends, am shocked that its not a favorite or single. the song is "Change Your Mind". give it a shot! its my favorite song on the cd, so much better that "It Ends Tonight"...just buy it
