Customer Reviews
Braid is so freakin awesome
I love this band. They come out with some of great tunes and upbeat songs...they make you want to have a party at your house or something. (It'll by on my party mix, at least.) They also come out with some unconventional rythems and time signatures at times. Very original with great voices. They're definetly worth checking out. Some favorites on this album are Please Drive Faster and Lucky to be Alive, and Milwakee Sky Rocket on Vol. 2.
oh man... the ignorance of some reviewers.
Mr.Musictrivia... You need some tutoring with your trivia. Hawthorne Heights is in no sense emo. Nor is it screamo, for that matter. Emo isn't about tight pants, cutting wrists and so on. Emo is short for emotive hardcore. It was started by bands in the DC hardcore/punk scene, namely, Rites of Spring. Emo then evolved into bands such as egg hunt, which happened to be made up of two prominent members of minor threat, braid, the get up kids, texas is the reason(some of the members of this band came from came from the 90's Krishna hardcore band 108), and so on. So using your logic, Ian from minor threat and Guy from rights of spring, who both sang in indie/hardcore/emo Gods, Fugazi, are not self respecting musicians because they were in bands labeled as emo. Just because you don't like what is marketed as "emo" today, does not mean that emo's roots are in junk like hawthorne heights. I believe you now have some real trivia to share. But now to the point. Braid is EMO greatness. This album is completely worth the money.
pure emo bliss
just like the one of the previous reviewers said, this is advanced listening. There were times that when I was listening to a particular harmony and was like “huh?” but for some reason it drew me back and I wanted to hear it again and then I understood. Some of the chord progressions seemed confused at first, but then I understood. Don’t get me wrong, there are many songs on this cut that are completely accessible and poppy, but be ready to be dragged kicking and screaming into loving this band and their genius.
