Customer Reviews
Consistently under tempo
Pittel consistently plays under tempo. The endings of his notes are occasionally abrupt. The playing is otherwise fine, but from a professor of saxophone I expected on point tempos (1st movement of Tableaux is way under; this can't be an interpretation issue, especially as the tempo is clearly marked at quarter equals 152). Claude Delangle has the best recording I've heard of the Maurice and Ibert.
Great Reference CD
After a solo competition, it was recommended that I purchase this album to listen to a certain style. Three years later, I'm still listening to it. Professor Pittel does a great job!
