The lead track here, “Ramblin Kind,” is a straight-up honky-tonk rock anthem with an outlaw spirit that everyday Americans can relate to. Like Donahew’s preceding albums, 2009’s Moving On wasn’t mixed by Nashville producers, nor was it released on a major label. And although Donahew’s songwriting has improved with better mapped arrangements, tighter musicianship and melodies catchier than a cactus garden, he still plays the kind of red-dirt Texas twang that introduced his first album, Lost Days. Even his more moving ballads like “Breaks My Heart,” and pensively reflective numbers like “California,” are built on a rootsy foundation of traditional instruments and tube-burning Telecaster leads that flirt with old school Southern rock. More upbeat songs like “Burn This House Down” and the bonus track “Moving On” manage to recall ‘90s alt-country without sounding derivative. Moving On plays with the intimacy of watching a live house-band while knocking back cold beers at your favorite old saloon.

Another fabulous cd of true Texas country from the CDB. Ramblin Man is upbeat and fun! Great single. There are several amazing ballads on here too (Next Time, Breaks My Heart, Angel, etc). You can't go wrong purchasing this cd!

Casey Donahew is amazing once you get one song you just cant stop! I first heard him when my traveling partners and i were heading to a rodeo down in texas, from that day on couldnt get enough of the band! It sure is sad that many people in the midwest dont know who he is!
Just buy the albulm you will love it
Everyone is entitled to their opinion that's what reviews are for. Hopefully you will not let TSUtexans review keep you from getting this albulm it is great. I watched them perform these songs live at Billy Bob's in Ft. Worth at the release party and can't wait to see them again. If you are a country music fan you will love the Casey Donahew Band and once you have this albulm you will want to have them all.
