Really?
Not a fan, I guess they peaked for me with their self titled. Son I am disappoint.
A change of sound for TWDY
This albums comes to your ears and soul as much darker than TWDY's two previous, so either you'll accept the change or you won't and miss out.
Different, but still Incredible!
This Will Destroy You has managed to deliver a uniquely beautiful sound with every one of their albums, and their latest EP is once again a testament to their incredible talent. Woven Tears feels like a long intro that warns the listener that they are embarking upon a journey into the darkest pits of their subconscious... But when Ritual begins, you know you've reached the eternal night below hell. Reeking of dread, mourning, and an incredibly well established atmosphere of gloom, Ritual is one of the darkest ambient songs I have ever heard, a feat that only This Will Destroy You could truly accomplish. "Doom" would probably be the best word to describe this music, and I could not be more excited about that.
If you're a fan of artists like Lustmord, Wereju, Gnaw Their Tongues, or any other sort of dark ambience, then this album is definitely for you. Or, if you simply want to hear what I would call the next evolution in TWDY's increasingly dark sound, then this album is certainly worth a listen. Those of you expecting another "Young Mountain", however, will probably be shocked and sorely disappointed, and so I recommend approaching this new material with caution. Nonetheless, although TWDY's next full-length album, Tunnel Blanket, is still a ways off, I think that "Moving on the Edges of Things" is a hint of what is to come, and it has most definitely wet my appetite.
