iTunes Review

While fans have bemoaned the use of auto-tune on Marques Houston’s fourth album, the consistency of Mr. Houston shows that the singer is interested in more than just trendy hits. At a time when R&B albums are usually built around two or three singles, it is a surprisingly strong set from front to back. The album is lightweight without being insubstantial, flirtatious without being insincere, and diverse without being overwrought. Like so many current R&B albums, Mr. Houston bears the influence of The-Dream, the multitalented producer whose futuristic arrangements and halftime tempos have become R&B’s flavor of the moment. Fortunately, Houston is a perfect match for this style. In “How I Do,” “Date” and “Restaurant” his falsetto blends into layers of pillowy synths and doubled vocals to form a delirious atmosphere. Those who prefer a more straightforward approach will appreciate the stripped-down settings of “Say My Name,” “Letter,” and “Sunset,” which put the focus solely on Houston’s velvety vocals.

Great CD

This is by far the best album of his yet. Who cares if he used a little bit of auto-tune. The songs are still fire. Case of You, Sunset, Body, Letter, and Beautiful Woman are all really good songs. I like almost every song on this album. Great job Marques Houston and keep the songs coming.

Not get the memo

I really like marques houston, and I have nearly every song from each of his albums from his self-titled album to Naked to Veteran -- but something just kills me about this CD just like nearly every other hip-hop or R&B album out now.

AUTO-TUNE. Houston, along with every other artist out there needs to drops this, it is just old news.

His best songs on this album stray away from the digitized sound, and with a voice like Houston's who needs it? Case Of You will become one of Houston's best, and Sunset is an excellent change of pace with the acoustic guitar.

Too much auto-tune

Veteran is 100 times better.......sad.
