Album Review

On the strength of the slow-burning Boyz II Men duet "Hey Lover," LL Cool J returned to the top of the charts with Mr. Smith, meaning the album is somewhat of a comeback for the veteran rapper. LL Cool J's skills had never deserted him, but his previous album, 14 Shots to the Dome, was an exercise in hardcore that only worked in fits and spurts. There are a couple of hard moments on Mr. Smith, but the album is at its most successful when he concentrates on his seductive, romantic side. LL has gotten a bit dirtier since the teenage days of "I Need Love," but he never steps over into the explicit, lewd come-ons of R. Kelly, preferring to suggest everything with a series of double entendres, metaphors, and analogies. Mr. Smith isn't a perfect record — there are too many slack moments for it to qualify as one of his best — but it proves that LL Cool J remained vital a decade after his debut.

my first ll cool j ablum b4 i knew who he waz about

i remember my mom buying the cassette tape (thatz right remember those annoying plastic tapez) well when i put on "I shot ya" and "life as a..." i loved thiz brotherz work and started studying hiz old skool ablumz he iz what he say he iz the GREATEST OF ALL TIME no man or woman can still bring a comeback and still be as hard as you were back in the day...but he did. plus he broke the barrierz of love rap to air play like no other....rap waz too macho and couldnt face the fact you had a girl listenin to hip hop also....so you know LL COOL J made it happen.

A Comeback if ever was one !!!!!

There are A handfull of Great albums like Reasonable Doubt, All Eyes On Me, Vol.2 Hard Knock Life, King, I Need Mine, The Documentary, Enter The Wu Tang Clan:36 Chambers, The Cronic, 2001, Ilmatic, Ready To Die, Life After Death, Me Against The World, Laugh Now Cry Later, The Blueprint and this is one of them so get this album really good and the other albums

LL Cool J is a lyrical genius. His songs just seem to get better every time I listen two them. Much props to LL.
