This album (released in conjunction with the book series The Story) attempts to interpret the Old and New Testaments in two CDs’ worth of songs and features the compositions of veteran singer/songwriters Nichole Nordeman and Bernie Herms as interpreted by such stellar Christian artists as Casting Crowns’ Mark Hall, MercyMe’s Bart Millard, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Chris Tomlin, Natalie Grant, and Steven Curtis Chapman. The music has a sweeping, cinematic feel, with forays into guitar-fueled rock (“No Compromise,” sung by Peter Furler) and twang-filled country (“Move in Me,” performed by Jeremy Camp) adding balance to this ballad-oriented set. Each track works to advance the dramatic narrative flow from the first moments of creation to Christ’s second coming. Standouts include Matthew West and Leigh Nash’s wide-eyed duet as Adam and Eve in “Good,” Todd Smith’s heroic interpretation of Job in “Broken Praise,” Francesca Barttistelli’s tender portrayal of Mary in “Be Born in Me,” and Mac Powell’s commanding embodiment of Jesus’ message in “When Love Sees You.”

This is what Christian Music SHOULD be..... straight from the Word! The lyrics are perfect and the music is stunning. Great job, wonderful album.
Music Inspired by The Story
This album is stunning, prayerful and a perfect devotional companion for anyone who wants to grow closer to God by immersing themselves through music into the lives of biblical characters. It's been said that people remember songs longer than they remember sermons, and as a music fanatic who loves The Bible, this is a marriage made in heaven for me. You can't help but want to know God more deeply after this worshipful experience. Sit back, lie facedown on the floor, raise your hands, close your eyes and allow these songs to penetrate your soul. This is the most inspiring and emotionally stirring collection of songs I've ever heard. The twenty-four artists all brilliantly bring us to the throne room by passionately performing these eighteen soul-piecing songs perfectly orchestrated by Nichole Nordeman (lyrics) and Bernie Herms (music). This is a five star compilation that need to be heard and experienced until He comes back. God inhabits the praises of His people and as I immerse myself in these songs, I can imagine Him smiling down and saying 'well done good and faithful servant.' Amen.
A Musical Journey Through the Record of Scripture -- and, Thus, the Record of History
"Music Inspired by The Story" may be the most important music recording ever produced. Sung from the perspectives of various Biblical figures, this two-part album boasts an "all-star" cast of CCM/Gospel artists and is a captivating, worshipful journey through the record of History -- from the Creation event (Genesis) to the Second Coming of Christ (Revelation). Plus, all the lyrics were written by my all-time favorite songwriter, Nichole Nordeman (a.k.a. the C.S. Lewis of Songwriting). Therefore, I have no choice but to endorse it!
As other reviewers have noted, the production, orchestration, instrumentation, vocal arrangements, etc. are fantastic. In fact, one of the initial and most striking aspects I noticed about this project is the stunning vocal performances that producers Brown Bannister & Bernie Herms managed to capture from each singer. In all honesty, with every track, I found myself saying, "That's the best I've ever heard [insert vocalist's name here] sound!"
This is unquestionably an excellent and epic worship project from beginning to end.
If you desire Scripture-saturated music (and you should!), then you MUST buy this!
