A step back in time
This record is a very unique and beautiful listening experience. The music of Europe in the middle ages is presented here, with songs dealing with many facits of life, medieval ideology, religion and an early form of propoganda, urging knights to fight the Saracens in the Holy land. One looking for music from the islamic world would not find what they wanted here, this is purely European, but it is worth it none the less. It is often hard to find Medieval and Renaissance music, espescially on-line, but those who wish to listen to this unique sound would definately do well to get this album. Beautifully presented with prefessional singers and period instruments, it is a step into another time.
Music of another Era
This music portrays the sense of chivalry, piousness, and propaganda all associated with the crusades. It is fascinating to imagine that around a millenium ago, these songs were being played as Christian soldiers marched into battle against the "Infidels". This album achieves its goal of bringing the past to life marvelously.
