iTunes Review

My Brain Says Stop, But My Heart Says Go! is the latest uplifting release from a group that began as a spinoff from the Christian rap-metal band Thousand Foot Krutch. This time out, FM Static offers such infectious tunes as “(Hey) I Want It,” “F.M.S.T.A.T.I.C.” and the title number with plenty of rousing, all-join-together energy. Singer/guitarist Trevor McNevan is especially good at capturing a nostalgic sense of longing in tracks like “Cinnamon & Lipstick” and “Last Train Home.” The band’s musical attack matches slicing guitar riffs with bubbly melodies and grooves that range from rock to hip-hop in feel. The bratty sarcasm of “U Don’t Know Me Like That” is balanced by the sensitivity of “Black Tattoo” (a look at an abusive relationship) and “Inside Out” (a waltzing love song reminiscent of ’90s-era Edwin McCain). My Brain… overflows with shamelessly catchy hooks and chant-along choruses, but beyond its bounce and fizz is a positive, Spirit-grounded message as well.

FM Static

Best FM Static album so far. Trevor McNevan does it again.

meh

Maybe it will grow on me but i don't like it nearly as much as their other albums

SOME GREAT few parts ehh...

my brain... great opener lots of mixes within the song9.5/10, track 2 ehh terrible start to the song i think...but comes on strong after that therfore only letting me give it an 8 because of the intro, I Want It- catchy but a little too repetitive with the chorus but overall pretty strong song 8 out of 10, lost in you has amazing lyrics it slows down the pace some from the previous 3 songs but still has an upbeat positive tempo with a great beat 9/10, U dont know me like that- not my favorite on this album but catchy so id give it an 8 out of 10, Cinnamon & Lipstick- a great love song has the sound of the their previous album which is great 8.5/10, Black Tattoo- great lyrics and meaning yet agian by FM Static you can tell this song was passoniatly written 9/10, Last Train Home- well it has the classic high pitch voice of Trevor which is always great this is a great slower song with some faster parts to it, on the album 9/10, Breaking Me Again- slowest pace on the album catchy and good 8.5/10,
Inside Out- great ending song slow and passointe and lyricly amazing 9/10
Overall great album i would rate it overall 8.7

Formed: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Toronto's FM Static was the pop-punk side project of Thousand Foot Krutch's Trevor McNevan (vocals/guitar) and Steve Augustine (drums). A million miles away from TFK's blustery rap-metal, FM Static had much more in common with the fizzy, immediately accessible pop-punk of blink-182 or Good Charlotte. Joined by bassist Justin Smith and guitarist John Bunner, McNevan and Augustine issued FM Static's debut on Tooth & Nail in July 2003; it featured 11 positive-thinking songs about girls, high school,...
